, where do you think the presidential race is right now? >> i think mitt romney is looking very good. that's why the obama administration didn't want to run against mitt romney. he was clearly the most threatening of the republican candidates. i think he's the strongest candidate against obama. it's hard to take out an incumbent. republicans have only done it one time before in the last 100 years. when reagan beat carter. i guess isn't the last time it's happened when clinton took out bush, right? so it's curious, for example that there were 70 million viewers of that debate the other night, the highest it's been since 1992, the last time an incumbent was taken out. i think that's because people are uncomfortable with obama but if they're not political nuts, like we are, they haven't been paying attention, haven't been watching all the debates and they just want to see who the challenger is and whether they're comfortable with him. and i think after wednesday night, everyone's pretty comfortable with mitt romney. >> you were early, looking back, i was reading back on your twitter feed last
. the president is not going as -- is going as far as saying he's all right in these kinds of forums. clearly, what we know, is that these debates are important n. a race where the polls are putting the president ahead and not out of reach of mitt romney, it's the challenge who may have more to gain and lose. the president took a break from two days of debate rehearsals to visit one of his own campaign offices in las vegas. he brought pizza to the volunteers and made some phone calls to a couple of voters in the area and many were surprised to have the president of the united states on the other end of the phone. mitt romney picked up a big endorsement in the denver sports world, an icon of the denver broncos, the former quarterback john elway appeared with romney offering his support. when we spoke to two top officials from both campaigns, they said what is clear is that they're both trying to do what they can to reach out to voters who still have not made up their mind. >> it's really honing in on those policy specifics on the issues they care about and he in -- hope in the end that is what
